Cool leather coin purse found in search of a luxury coin purse.

In today’s increasingly cashless society, there are still situations where cash is used.
Nevertheless, it is probably true that people are carrying less and less cash.

Many people use coin purses when they do not want to carry too much extra baggage.
I am one of those “people who want to reduce their luggage”.

Why were you looking for a coin purse in the first place?
I originally carried a long wallet and used it without any problems.

However, as I shifted to using an app for my loyalty cards and e-money/QR code payment for payments, I noticed that my wallet was getting scanty.

Card pockets that only hold one or two cards, billfolds that only use one of the two
I thought to myself, “This is useless! It’s just luggage!“
I realized.

So we started looking for a smaller coin purse.

Smaller than a wallet, so it’s cheap.

Naturally, the coin purse is smaller than a long wallet. (less than half the area).
If the same leather is used, you can buy it cheaper for that.

I felt that I did not need a large wallet, but I also wanted to have a “good one” anyway.

I thought that a coin purse would be cheaper and better than a wallet, and I wanted a coin purse made of high quality leather material.

With cashless society, large wallets felt unnecessary.

The long wallet is quite large because it holds bills without folding them.

It is tacky to put a long wallet in the back pocket of trousers, so I basically put it in my bag, but a small bag like a sacosh would get in the way a lot.

I decided not to carry a large long wallet because I didn’t want the wallet from most of the contents to take up a large portion of my bag.

If I was going to have it, I wanted a luxury item.

As I mentioned earlier, I wanted to have an item made of “high quality materials” and with a special attention to detail.

A wallet can cost more than 100,000 yen, but a coin purse can be purchased for tens of thousands of yen.

For me, a coin purse was the best choice, as I do not have a lot of money, but I wanted to have something special.

Brands compared

• First, we considered brands that are made in Japan or that can properly accept Japanese yen bills.
  • The 10,000 yen bill is a large size in the world, and with foreign brand coin purses, the zipper can bite and tear the bill when the bill is inserted.
    Using torn bills in vending machines, which are still largely cash-only, can cause malfunctions and, in the worst case, you may be forced to pay for the damage, so Japanese yen compatibility was an absolute requirement.
• The second is a brand that properly uses leather materials.
  • Brands sold on Amazon and Rakuten often say they are leather, but are synthetic leather.
    We looked for brands that stock really good quality leather.

As I mentioned at the beginning, if I’m going to have something, I want it to be good! I wanted a rare item that is hard to find in other brands.

I wanted a coin purse that was made of unusual leather, not just run-of-the-mill leather, so I went with CocoMeister.

The actual product has a strong sense of luxury because of the use of such rare materials.
It is a simple design, but the combination of the material and the quality of the workmanship made it seem to have a presence that sets it apart from other brands.

And it is the skill of leather skilled craftsmen that supports the making/quality of the product.

Made in Japan

All of Coco Meister’s leather products are made in our domestic factory in Japan.

As I mentioned earlier, of course, Japanese Yen bills can be securely stored in them.
As a Japanese, I want to support Japanese products! I also want to support Japanese products as a Japanese person!

I think there are a lot of people who would rather buy and use a high-end, high-quality coin purse made in Japan than buy a foreign high-brand coin purse.

I bought the oak bark erin.

After much consideration, I arrived at a coin purse called The Oak Bark Erin.

As you can see, the design is made of braided leather and has a massive appearance.
The surface has beeswax emerging from the inside of the leather, giving it a wild and cool worn look. (The wax will blend in and become invisible with use.)

Bills do not fit in the bifold, but since I don’t have much cash to carry around in the first place, it is not a problem.
I am also satisfied with the number of coins that I personally need to carry.
I can easily fit 5 cards in it if they are as thick as a credit card. (I don’t put that many cards in it, though.)

IC cards such as PASMO and Suica can be inserted in the card pocket on the outside for smooth passage through ticket gates.

Favorite Points of The Oakbark Erin

Rare materials and high quality.

The oak bark leather used is tanned using only oak bark that is strictly controlled in the UK.
It is a rare leather that takes more than a year to make.

The rarity and artistic quality of the leather was recognized in England, and Cocomaister’s Oakbark Westerly was presented to the Duke of Kent as a gift, representing the most artistic leather goods of any English tannery.

I was very happy with the Oak Bar Cleather because I knew that if I was going to buy a coin purse, I wanted one that was unusual and luxurious.

Zipper pulls are cool.

The zipper pull is gold-colored, which goes perfectly with the wine-colored leather.
I personally like it because it is the part that raises the overall presence of the coin purse.

Leather smells good.

After all, it is made of real leather material that took a lot of time and effort, so you can smell the aroma of leather when you look close to it.
Some leathers lose their scent after a while, but Oak Bar Cleather has a pleasant leather scent for a long time, at least 4years.

I am sorry that the text and pictures do not convey this, but I enjoy the scent every time I hold the coin purse.

Disappointing points

Bills do not fit in two folds.

As you can see in the storage example photo above, bills must be folded three times or more to fit.
This may be an inconvenience for those who often use cash.

Personally, I don’t mind it because I don’t carry cash in the first place, but I recommend that those who prefer cash to have a long wallet.

high price

I bought it 4 years ago and to be honest, I don’t use it very often.

The leather is too good to be used on a daily basis.
It seems that if you use it enough, the wax on the surface of the leather will blend in and become invisible, but it hasn’t gone away at all.

If you buy something that is not worth your income, the mindset is “I can’t spend it because it’s a waste!” I think, “I can’t spend it because it’s a waste!
I sometimes carry a coin purse with me because it is just barely acceptable.
